Following a lengthy six month off season, Super Late Model Dirt Track Racer Thomas Langley and Team 19 made the three hour trip to Whynot Mississippi to open up their 2024 race season. The event was number three for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series and drew twenty-eight race teams from six different states to compete for the $3,000.00 Winner’s Check.
Langley’s first night out in the Swartz built race car proved to be a good opportunity to learn what the car is capable of. After a brief hot lap session, Langley and the team made adjustments to the race car that helped during the qualifying session; Langley placed 12th in group A with a time of 13.985.
In the B Feature, Langley started 9th and raced his way to 5th place by lap number 3. Unfortunately coming out of turn number 2 on the 4th lap Langley and two other competitors were vying for the same spot on the race track and Langley’s car was severely damaged on the right rear quarter panel. Following the race, Langley stated, “I thought I had a flat about half way through the race. The car was good, I had made some passes and we were moving toward the front of the field. I saw Jamey Boland in the 232, so I knew we had a good run going. Then all of a sudden, the back end of the car just got loose…. I could drive it, but just couldn’t get the same speed or the same feel from the car.” Langley continued, “These guys that race in the MSCCS are very competitive drivers, some of the best in the region, it is a privilege to race with them. Thanks to Whynot Speedway for a great night of racing, the track was perfect, you could race high, low and in the middle… absolutely perfect.”
Langley will be back in action this Saturday night at the Talladega Short Track… Eastaboga Alabama. You can watch the event Live on Talladega Short Track TV.

TEAM19inc Recap –
Thomas Langley and Team 19 were back in action this past Saturday Night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama. On an absolutely beautiful evening, racing action got under way about 6:30 PM with Hot Laps for all racing divisions.
Following the Hot Laps, Langley rolled off first again this week for his two qualifying laps. (Just some inside information, I don’t believe the team has ever rolled out first for qualifying, but here in 2024, this is two weeks in a row that Langley has been on the track surface first… just the luck of the draw, but it feels good to be “lucky”.) The qualifying laps were good, but when you race against great drivers and great equipment, you have to be great. Langley locked the #19 into a sixth place starting spot for the Super Late Model Feature event.
Working under the guidance of Hitman Racing Suspension owner Trey Weaver as the crew chief, Langley raced a clean and green 30 lap A Main Feature, finishing 6th. After the race Langley had these comments, “The car was good throughout the 30 laps, unfortunately we had some track dust to drive through out of turn 4 in the early stages of the race, but overall, the track was in great shape. My car was good, just a little loose, but I was pushing it on each lap. I think I can improve my driving earlier in the evening with hot laps and qualifying…. that will help us to be better for the feature events.” He added, “I definitely want to thank Trey Weaver for being here with us…it is great to have his knowledge and experience watching each lap and then coaching me on improvement ideas. I also want to thank all of our Partners who support this effort, Timber Creek Housing, Anthem Edition, Hitman Racing Suspensions, Mullins Race Engines, Graphics by J-Rod, Swartz Xtreme Race Cars and Safety Wins…we appreciate the help we receive from all of these great people and great companies.”
Langley will be back in action on Saturday Night April 27th as he follows the MSCCS to Magnolia Motor Speedway for their next scheduled event.
